Tell me something about you and artistic background.
I grew up in a village in bavaria. My artistic background is: Graffiti, collages, and performative collaborations
Tell me about this film, initial idea and work process.
The method i use in "Westcoast" had its birth already 10 years ago. I wished my collages and Paintings to be seen as scenes, with an before and after.
Are you working on new projects at the moment?
I am working on around 30 different film projects. Five will be hopefully finished during this year. Some are belonging to a seria of panoramic landscape-videos, where Westcoast is part of.
Do you have specific influences in your film/video making?
My biggest influence is the daily life and its complexity. The most influential person in the early days was the german musician/artist Helge Schneider.
Why is it important for you to show your film/video in a festival?
Most important is the common experience together with an audience which is not able to interrupt the narration. Festivals are more social events than exhibitions. The video which is shown in Oslo is actually a loop-installation work and it is made for huge HD-projections. But still it has a narration and it works in a screening situation.
What role do you think Oslo Screen Festival should have to promote your work?
Many Video Festivals tend to be situated between cinema and art, which is in many cases a disadvantage. Festivals could be experimental itself and set outstanding platforms. Like a experimental festivals for experimental films. As an audience i like curated festivals with careful programmings and space for discussions.
