Tell me something about you and artistic background.
I was born in Tokyo, Japan. I stayed there 20 years, and then I came to France to study Fine Arts. I always wanted to do painting. But I was seduced by the moving images in my school... My artistic background? I think it started in kindergarten, when my teacher obligated us to draw with pencil and I insisted (and did!) in using ballpoint pens. That was a small revolution to me :)

Tell me about this film, initial idea and work process.
For my film, "PLANET A", initially, I wanted to make a sculpture of salt tree. An evolutionary sculpture, where salt crystal will grow every minute. But It was a bit complicate to maintain, so I decided to make a film where we can see those trees (this is what you see in the film, the white snow kind of thing, it's actually a salt tree). And I was also curious to see how do these crystals grow...

Are you working on new projects at the moment?
YES. I am planning to make another video using time-lapse technique as in PLANET A, but this time, I want to film diverse sort of molds.

Do you have specific influences in your film/video making?
I have a Fine Arts background. So contemporary art - including painting, sculpture, performance, installation, sounds...-  has a big influence on my work. And traveling. Go around the world is the best influence for filmmaking, for me.

Why is it important for you to show your film/video in a festival?
YES. Festival is a very important way to show my films, because it's a crossroad of people who are particularly interested in films and video works. It helps me to present my work and to meet interesting people.
