Tell me something about you and artistic background.
I am a Norwegian artist working mainly with paintings. I was born in Oslo, 1968. I graduated from the national Collage of Arts, Oslo, in 1996, and I also studied art and restoration in Florence, Italy, for several years. I have produced exhibitions in Norway, Sweden and France. Nowadays I live and work in Oslo.

Tell me about this film, initial idea and work process.
Getaway (2009) is a short non-narrative film with a camera that does not move. We only see the clouds. The soundtrack consists of violent, urban cinematic sounds. This film has no dialogue, no narration, no subtitles, no plot, no actors and no script. I am trying to paint a picture with the videocamera.

Are you working on new projects at the moment?
I am still working with the skies and the clouds. But mainly Svalbard is the ongoing project this year.  Last summer I spent time working with sketches and videos in Ny-Ă…lesund, Svalbard. I experienced the melting of the Polar Ice at first hand, and the serious effects on the landscape. This is the background for my new paintings and videos.

Do you have specific influences in your film/video making?
I really prefer non-verbal films from both new and established filmmakers. Reggios Koyaanisqatsi is probably the most important film for my kind of language.

Why is it important for you to show your film/video in a festival?
I am used to present my work in a gallery. It is interesting to move the piece out of the white cube for the change of meaning.
