Tell me something about you and artistic background.
Composer by trade, the practice of instrumental « noise » and percussion work progressively opened my approach towards instrumental recording, and the capturing of outside sounds and pictures. For each creation I work on (original soundtracks for films, live performances), I devote primordial importance to the sonorous material and the sound objects involved. Through dense and vividly visual scenarios, I try to transport the audience from one universe to the other. www.fabourdier.com

Tell me about this film, initial idea and work process.
React is a movie dealing with daily “active” pharmaceutics products such as, gazs,  gels, tablets. This project purpose a reflexion about the power of nearly microscopic reaction in the context of proximity. Organic, alive, the chemical transformation of the  tablets and products, into gaz, fire, through water and air follow the natural cycle of any natural organic life. Breaking the codes of gravity, I want the audience to loose their spatials references, and discover a new sensitive approach of those well known chemical transformations. It’s a trip into different frame and graphics constructions of the action, from the wild explosion to an organize fireworks. I ‘ve conceived React with a synthetic digital aesthetics, to extract the essentials lightly of the reaction and to question the audience about where it’s from.

Are you working on new projects at the moment?
Outside of my work as a  film soundtrack composer mostly for arte, i'm working this time on a multimedia facility "Larsen3g"  who propose to participate in a audiovisual work, sharing their video / photo personal recorded with a mobile phone by Bluetooth wireless or direct mail. Sent images are producing sounds and sounds influence on mixed images. The operative filming the participants are then inlaid into the final mix.

Why is it important for you to show your film/video in a festival?
Most of the broadcasting way of diffusion are so formated and controlled that often the only way to watch "fresh" and original conceptions and materials are now mostly present in independent festivals. This gives an opportunity for artists to give another life to their personal creation.

What role do you think Oslo Screen Festival should have to promote your work?
As an international European festival Oslo Screen Festival can propose works, from all over the world, in a way of independance and purelly objective and artistic point of view. My interest aims more to share experience than promoting myself, that's what i like in independant film festival too.
